Get a Faster iPhone 3G With iOS 4
I recently installed iOS 4 on my iPhone 3G (the dev GM), and have been playing with it for the last week. As cool as the newer (available) features were, I was one of the many that had been experiencing a very slow OS. I finally couldn't take it anymore, I needed to speed the phone up!
After looking through the many posts detailing that there was in fact a speed issue across many of the phones, I started looking into why mine would fall into that category. No one seemed to have a specific source of the problem, but then it hit me: I remembered that I had jailbroken my phone last summer (which still had a visible remnant, the percentage indicator next to the battery). I had removed the jailbreak via a "restore from backup," since my phone had been extremely slow with it applied (however, even after restoring to an official firmware my phone seemed really slow).
Safari Tip: Remove Failed Pages for Accurate Autocomplete
When I'm going to check my email or Facebook, I tend to type a little too fast in the address bar. Often I'll type http://gma or http://faceb and hit return too fast. This can cause a lot of issues in Safari (or any other browser, I would assume), because it keeps these incorrect (and non-existant) pages in its history (my ISP is a DNS-hijacker). Now if I go to type the first part of the domain (e.g. http://gma) to have the browser autocomplete the address, the browser won't because of that mistyped entry.
Thankfully, it's a very easy fix. View all of your history in Safari (History -> Show All History, or CMD + OPTION + 2), and do a search for "Failed to Open Page" (or whatever your ISP provides for the title of hijacked pages). Scan over the found items (in the event that something else slipped through), select all, then delete. Now start typing that address again, and the correct autocomplete should appear. Done!
Poll: Mac Pro or iMac?
As my primary computer, I'm using a first-generation iMac Core 2 Duo; I believe I got it around Christmas 2007. At the time, I had little cash to spend on a computer, let alone a Mac; needless to say it wasn't "top-of-the-line."
Even though my iMac has served me well over the last two-to-three years, it's time for an upgrade; it's been lagging when running my normal day-to-day tasks, and choking when trying to do anything beyond that. So, I've done a bit of research and a lot of thinking, and I've come up with two possible solutions to my problem; however, I may need some help from you to decide on which route I should go.
Full-Time!
Last Monday was my first day as a full-time employee! It's very exciting to be able to say that; being able to have a full-time job in both of my studied fields (technology and print) is an amazing opportunity.
These past two weeks I have been in De Pere (Green Bay), Wisconsin, on-site at Independent Printing Co., Inc. As I said, my first day was June 7th, which was mostly filled with paperwork and catching up with everyone. From then on, my visit has been filled with meetings, project planning, and the occasional break to do some actual work or grab some lunch. Overall, it has been a very productive two weeks.

For my Anatomy & Physiology class, we're allowed to use 3 x 5 notecards on our exams. The professor doesn't care how we make the cards or what we put on the cards. I decided to take his online study guides and condense them using Google Docs.
